Our Teaching Team

Irenne Kesuma Dewi

Principal of Middleton Pre-School Surabaya

My name is Irenne, I used to work as a nurse assistant back in the States before pursuing my career as an educator. I have worked with different types of curriculum, from classical, Cambridge as well as Montessori. I started teaching formally in Surabaya as an assistant teacher and worked my way up. Teaching young adults to toddlers and babies. I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to work as a principal for over five years in Jakarta and in building school branches as well.

I believe as each child is unique, and different approach is needed to help them reach their best potential. And I am very excited to join the Middleton team as they cater to these needs and have what I think is one of the best teaching methods out there..

Joscelind Eugenia

My name is Joscelind Eugenia. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Food Technology and Nutrition at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia) and worked in that field for a year. However, I decided to shift my career to early childhood education after participating in some volunteering events related to children. I have always enjoyed spending time with children and wish to provide positive experiences which can help them reach their fullest potential. Last year, I completed a graduate diploma in Early Childhood Education at RMIT University and I have gained experience and knowledge from the program and from extensive field placements. Outside of placements, I have had the experience of working as a casual early childhood educator assistant at a children’s centre in Australia. Ong Lie Mei (Merry) 李欣镁

Hi, my name is Merry Li. I like to learn foreign languages, especially the Chinese language. Thanks to my parents for giving me a great opportunity to go to China for further study – I never thought it would be the door to enter the education world! After graduating from Xiamen Jimei Huaqiao University, I continued my studies and obtained my Bachelor of Education degree from Guangzhou Jinan University. I realize how important it is to be able to speak the Chinese language, and that is why I am passionate about sharing what I learned and telling young learners there are a lot of wonders out there waiting for them to explore. I hope they can be a part of that world. I have taught young learners in some schools and of course, we can’t use the same old teaching and learning methods of ‘feeding the duckling.’ Curiosity is the key to learning further. Here I am, excited to explore and learn together with young learners. Their curiosity can lead us, teachers, to wonders and beyond.

Michelle Wendy’s 蔡旭红

My name is Michelle Wendy’s. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Education from College of Chinese Language and Culture Jinan University (Guangzhou, China). I used to volunteer to teach Indonesian to Chinese primary students for some time during my time in Guangzhou. I fell in love with teaching children from a young age since day one. I have been working with students from ages 6-10 for the past three and a half years at an international school in East Surabaya. For me, early childhood education is one of the most important steps to build the character of the children and for them to find out their interests. As a teacher, I would like to consider my students as friends so they can share their thoughts which will allow me to know them better and learn something from them. I believe when we consider students as friends, they can be more open and enjoy the class better. I love to make my class fun and lively as well.  I hope they can feel the love I give during the lesson and enjoy the class. It’s an honor to join the team, I hope I can make positive contributions to Middleton Pre-School Surabaya.
